Drive market
sorted by $/TiB-year, not by $/TB
This page lists current pricing for ZFS-grade drives across the tiers Bucket recommends. The interesting column is $/TiB-yr (modeled) — the same number Bucket's calculator produces, applied to each row's observed price band under default drought-resistant assumptions (3-way mirror, 1 cold spare, treading workmode). The table sorts by that column. Sort by raw $/TB if you want; the point of Bucket is that raw $/TB is the wrong unit.
Prices are hand-curated — verified manually each quarter against eBay sold-listings, Amazon, Seagate-direct refurb, and a small set of reputable recert sellers. No real-time scraping; no display ads. See /about for the publication model.
How to read this table
- Observed price band — the typical range, not the cheapest auction. Eyeball-low and eyeball-high from the spread.
- $/TiB-yr (modeled) — the price band run through Bucket's decision math. Lower is better. Sort by this column.
- Where to buy — eBay sold-listings, Amazon, and
Seagate-direct refurb where applicable. Affiliate-tagged links are
marked
(aff); non-affiliated competitors are listed alongside as the honesty marker.
